Mike Tasker

Mike started sailing on the River Dart whilst he was at the Britannia Royal Naval College. When he left the Royal Navy, having served for 2.5 years on a 45,000 tonne aircraft carrier HMS EAGLE, which was the pride of the fleet at that time.

On leaving Rank he was general manager and then a director of a cleaning company which provided a specialised cleaning service to the large group hotels in the London area, eventually employing over 300 people.  During this time his sailing activities were restricted to weekend trips to the South Coast sailing on other people’s boats, lake sailing on his brother’s dinghy and trips on the Norfolk Broads and River Thames.  He arrived in Thailand in February 1994, initially managing the office of Fast Ferries Siam Ltd, which ran a fast ferry service between Phuket and Phi Phi.  It was during this time in 1997 he met up with Rolly Tasker who ran a sail making company on the island and he became his General Manager and later a director of Rolly Tasker Sails (Thailand) Co Ltd.  Mike retired from this company in February 2016 and along with Robert and Tommy set up South East Asia Sails in late 2017.

Tom Sarawut

Started his career working for at Fast Ferries Siam Ltd, then at Rolly Tasker Sails doing all sorts of odd jobs and rigging before leaving to work as crew on SY Sylvia a 125’ wooden ketch for 2.5 years where he crossed the Pacific and Indian Oceans and sailed in the Mediterranean. It was during his time on SY Sylvia that his love for sailing blossomed and drove him to Australia, where he gained a Master Class 5 certificate.

Upon returning to Thailand he worked again for Rolly Tasker Sails for approximately 10 years in sail design, mast and rigging and supervision on the sail loft floor before setting up South East Asia Sails with Mike and Robert.
