Back to the Loft: Adventures, Celebrations, and Sails

Greetings from South East Asia Sails! It’s Robert here, freshly returned from a breathtaking trek to Everest Base Camp. While I’ve been navigating the rugged trails of Everest, our team has been skillfully navigating the demands of a busy season back at the loft.

Celebrating Songkran

April was a splash, quite literally, as we celebrated Songkran, the exuberant Thai New Year marked by the world’s largest water fight. It’s a time when the entire country erupts in joyous celebration, and no one, young or old, escapes getting drenched! This year, amidst the festivities, I took a little tumble and came away with a twisted ankle—but with spirits undampened. Our team enjoyed a well-deserved five-day break, soaking up the fun and camaraderie.

Crafting the Wind

Despite the holiday, our workshop has been a whirlwind of activity. We’ve been busy crafting sails that are not just pieces of fabric but are crucial companions to sailors across Southeast Asia. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:

  • J/120’s Code Zero: A sail designed for light wind conditions, enhancing both speed and direction.

  • Ericson 25’s 135% Roller Furling Genoa: Built for better performance and easier handling.

  • MacGregor 26x’s Genoa: Tailored for enhanced upwind capability.

  • Hanse 315’s Asymmetrical Spinnaker: Perfect for downwind cruising, adding both speed and stability.

  • Ericson 32-2’s Mainsail: A robust addition, designed for resilience and efficiency.

In addition, our repair team has been diligently restoring sails from an array of manufacturers like Hanse, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Catalina, Bavaria, Lagoon, and Fountaine Pajot, ensuring that every sail we send out across Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand is in prime condition.

Sailing Ahead: Singapore Yachting Festival

This week marks another chapter as Iwiyisi from our sister company, SEAM Upholstery, and I head to the Singapore Yachting Festival. It's an exciting opportunity to explore the latest in yachting luxury and innovation, and to share insights into the craftsmanship of sailmaking and boat upholstery.

Stay Tuned

As we continue our journey, both at sea and in the loft, we invite you to stay connected with us. Follow our adventures, the crafts we perfect, and the seas we explore. At South East Asia Sails, every stitch is a story, and every sail is a promise of an adventure waiting to unfold.
