SEA Sailmakers' Weekly Update: New Sails and International Travels

Hello, SEA Sailmakers community!

This week has been dynamic and productive for the team at South East Asia Sails (SEA Sailmakers). While some of us are traveling to meet with fellow sailmakers in the UK and Greece, our sailmaking team has been busy crafting high-quality sails for a variety of vessels. Here’s a detailed look at what we’ve accomplished this week.

This Week’s Sailmaking Projects

  1. Short Batten Mainsail for a Newport 28 MKII Our team completed a short batten mainsail designed to enhance the performance of the Newport 28 MKII. This sail is heading to the USA, where it will ensure smooth and efficient sailing for its owner.

  2. 135% Roller Furling Genoa for a Beneteau First 285 Bound for Bishop, California, this roller furling genoa is crafted for the Beneteau First 285. Its design ensures ease of handling and improved sailing performance, making it a perfect addition for this vessel.

  3. Asymmetrical Spinnaker for a J/105 We finished an asymmetrical spinnaker for a J/105, which is on its way to Newark, California. This sail is designed to enhance downwind performance, providing speed and stability for the J/105.

  4. Code Zero for a J/120 Another project for California, this Code Zero sail is tailored for a J/120. Known for its versatility, the Code Zero will significantly boost the sailing capabilities of the J/120, especially in light wind conditions.

  5. Lazy Bag/Stack Pack for a Custom Sailboat This week, we also completed a lazy bag/stack pack for both the mainsail and mizzen of a custom sailboat based in Indonesia. This practical addition ensures easy sail handling and storage, enhancing the overall sailing experience for the boat’s crew.

International Travels and Collaborations

While our sailmaking team has been busy with these exciting projects, Robert and Iwiyisi have been traveling to the UK and Greece. They are meeting with filmmakers and fellow sailmakers, exploring potential collaborations and innovations in sailmaking. These meetings are crucial for expanding our expertise and integrating new techniques and technologies into our processes.

Unreported Repair Activities

Due to the ongoing travels, it’s challenging to detail the specific activities of our repair team this week. However, they continue to work diligently on maintaining and repairing sails for various clients, ensuring that all sails are restored to optimal condition.
