What We’ve Been Up To Lately at S.E.A. Sailmakers

The past few weeks here at S.E.A. Sailmakers (South East Asia Sails) have been a great mix of busy sailmaking floors, well-travelled sails, hardworking repair crews, and a few moments that reminded us just how global — and human — this business really is.

🌍 New Sails Heading All Over the World

We’ve had another customer take advantage of one of our favourite “shipping alternatives”: collect your sail, save on freight, and enjoy a holiday at the same time. This time, it’s a brand-new asymmetrical spinnaker for a Lagoon 440, soon to be personally transported back to Denmark.

Other recently completed sails include:

  • Hanks-on Jib for a Colgate 26, soon to be seen sailing the coast of Kuwait

  • A patriotic red, white, and blue furling jib for a Hunter 28.5 — no prizes for guessing which country this one is heading to 🇺🇸

  • Asymmetrical Spinnaker for a Beneteau First 235 on its way to Louisiana

  • Full Batten In-Boom Furling Mainsail for a Bruce Roberts design, soon to be collected directly from our loft in Phuket

  • Hanks-on Jib for a custom sailboat sailing right here in Phang Nga Bay

  • Code Zero for a Privilege 495 with grey UV and an anti-twist luff rope, now making its way to Western Australia

  • Full Batten Mainsail for another Beneteau First 235, also bound for Louisiana

  • Gale Sail for a Contest 43, built from super-heavy Dacron, heavily reinforced, and finished in bright orange for maximum visibility — hopefully rarely needed off the coast of Northland, New Zealand

  • 145% Roller Furling Genoa for a Beneteau Sense 46, soon sailing the coast of San Diego

  • Full Batten Mainsail for a Colgate 26, packed and ready to ship to Kuwait

  • Asymmetrical Spinnaker for a custom Peterson 41 heading to Seattle

  • Furling Genoa and Lazy Bag for our friends at @groupislandspirit and their brand-new Island Spirit 410

  • Headsail for a 45er, making its way to Friedrichshafen, Germany

  • Gale Sail for an Etap 23, again in bright orange, heading to Switzerland

  • Short Batten Mainsail and Furling Jib for a Starwind 223, soon sailing the coast of the USA

  • Lazy Bag for a Lagoon 440

  • Short Batten Mainsail for a Columbia 9.6, heading to Lebanon, Oregon

  • High Roach Mainsail for an Island Spirit 410, soon to be seen sailing out of Pattaya

🧵 Repairs, TLC & Charter Fleet Support

Our repair team has also been flat out, carrying out repairs, recuts, laundering, and general sail TLC for both private cruisers and charter fleets.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve worked on sails for charter companies including Dream Yacht Charter, The Moorings, Sunsail, Group Island Spirit, and Aqua Charters, supporting vessels from builders such as Lagoon, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Fountaine Pajot, Amel, Hanse, Bavaria, and Hallberg-Rassy.

It’s not glamorous work — but it’s essential, and it keeps boats sailing safely and efficiently.

🌟 Team Spotlight – Employee of the Month

A huge congratulations to Khun Kob, officially crowned Employee of the Month.
The loudest member of the team, the undisputed master of floor control, the queen of effortless coordination — all delivered with a side of wild humour. We’d genuinely be lost without her.

📸 Thank Yous & Sister Company Shout-Outs

A big thank you to Charles of SV Osprey for sharing these fantastic images of his brand-new S.E.A. Sailmakers mainsail and genoa, proudly flying aboard his beautiful Tristar 48. Seeing our sails out doing what they were built for never gets old.

And finally — well done to our sister company SEAM Upholstery, who absolutely knocked it out of the park this week by completing a stunning enclosure for a Lagoon 620, soon to be heading to Bali.

From storm sails to spinnakers, charter repairs to custom one-offs, it’s been another busy and rewarding few weeks here in the loft. Thank you, as always, to our customers, partners, and friends around the world for trusting S.E.A. Sailmakers.

Fair winds,
The S.E.A. Sailmakers Team
