SEA Sailmakers Update: A Fortnight of Craftsmanship, Community & Cold-Weather Cruising
It’s been a full and fulfilling couple of weeks at SEA Sailmakers, with our team working across new builds, repairs, and collaborations for clients near and far. From boutique cruising boats to bustling charter fleets, we’ve had our hands (and loft space) full — just the way we like it.
✤ New Sails Heading Around the World
Here’s a look at some of the sails we’ve proudly completed in the last 10–14 days:
A 135% Hanks-on Genoa for a Catalina 22, heading off to Timberlea, Canada — built to handle breezy inland cruising with ease.
A short batten mainsail for a Beneteau 50, crafted for our friends at @groupislandspirit. This sail will soon be hoisted on one of their sailing school’s cruising vessels, inspiring the next generation of skippers.
A short batten mainsail for a classic Beetle Cat Swan, soon to be seen sailing the picturesque waters of New Hampshire.
An in-mast furling mainsail for a Gib’Sea 86, built with the rugged North Atlantic in mind — this one’s bound for the United Kingdom and ready for whatever the weather brings.
✤ Special Thanks to @wildernessofwaves
We’d like to extend a warm thank you to Olivia of @wildernessofwaves for the recent shout-out on her channel. It’s a genuine pleasure to be part of her journey — following her oceanic adventures is always inspiring, and we’re proud our work can play a part in the story she’s writing at sea.
✤ Behind the Scenes: Sail Repairs in Full Swing
While new sails have been going out the door, our sail repair team has been in overdrive, handling a wave of urgent jobs and ongoing support work for some of our key partners in the charter world. In the last two weeks alone, we’ve serviced sails for:
Dream Yacht Charters – including repairs on sails from Lagoon 450s, Beneteau Oceanis 41s, and Bali 4.2s
Elite Charters – working on gear from brands like Jeanneau, Hanse, and Fountaine Pajot
The Yacht Sales Co. – repairs and TLC to sails from Elvstrøm, North Sails, and Quantum Sails
Faraway Yachting – including some TLC on sails from Dufour monohulls
From major re-stitching jobs to UV strip replacements and batt-car conversions, we’ve been ensuring these boats stay powered up and ready for charter guests — even during the busiest sailing months of the year.
Thanks for Following Our Journey
Whether it’s crafting a mainsail for a training vessel or reviving a genoa on a beloved family cruiser, we take great pride in supporting the global sailing community. If you have a sail that needs building, tweaking, or saving — we’re here to help.
Until next time — fair winds and following seas from all of us at SEA Sailmakers.
