SEA Sailmakers Update – A Week of Sails and Stories That Travel the World

It’s been a busy and meaningful few days here at SEA Sailmakers, with custom sails heading out across the globe and some heartfelt moments shared by our clients that remind us why we do what we do.

Here’s a quick look at the sails we've recently completed:

  • A mainsail and 110% genoa for a Norseman 447 Aft Cockpit now bound for Miami

  • A full suit — mainsail, mizzen, and headsail — for a custom wishbone rig yacht heading to Panama

  • A battened headsail for a Corsair F24, soon to take on the winds of Queensland

  • A sleek Code Zero for a Lagoon 42 on its way to Hong Kong

  • A mainsail and jib for an Excess 11, made for our friends at @primusmarine

  • An asymmetrical spinnaker for a Beneteau 38.1, soon to be seen catching breezes along Lake Michigan

  • Another asymmetrical spinnaker for a Beneteau Oceanis 41, sailing off to Guernsey

  • And one more asymmetrical spinnaker for a Beneteau First 375, soon unfurling in the waters of Washington State

It’s always exciting to see our sails powering boats in such varied and beautiful corners of the world — but this week, something especially moving landed in our inbox.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to @AVSommar for sharing a touching story and photos on Instagram. Here’s what they wrote:

*"I wanted to share something that holds deep meaning for me, tied to the memory of my father and his father, Grandpa Roy Love. Both of them found joy and peace in sailing, and that love has carried forward in my own life.

Near the end of my dad’s life, while he was in the hospital, we spent quiet moments together watching sailboats dance across Port Gardner Bay. Their sails catching the wind reminded me of the stories he used to tell about his boyhood.

Back in the 1950s, when he was still just a boy, Grandpa Love built him a small dinghy from plywood and fiberglass, shaping it by hand in their backyard in Hialeah, Florida.

Today, I raised a new sail made by a local sailmaker, @southeastasiasails. It carries a marking much like the one they used all those years ago.

I couldn’t let the moment pass without sharing it. SV Sommar has found her new wing, and with it, a piece of our past sails on. ♥️ 🥲"*

That post meant the world to us. We’re honoured to have played even a small part in keeping a family tradition alive — and in helping SV Sommar find her next chapter.

Finally, a big thank you to Ivo in Estonia, who shared stunning photos of his SEA Sails spinnaker powering his immaculate Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37. Seeing our sails in action, in such incredible settings, never gets old.

From quiet moments of reflection to the thrill of performance sailing, we're proud to support this wide-ranging, global community — one sail at a time.

Need a sail that’s built to perform and made to last? Get in touch — we’d love to help you make your next passage unforgettable.
